Vender Questions with Answers
1. Will the proposed tablet device have network connectivity while in use or is this solution required to be an offline capability capable of synchronization to a master database when the user returns from the field?
Answer: The preferred operation is no network connectivity while in the field. Ideally, the device should be capable of docking to the army network, which means the hardware and software would need to meet current approved army network compatibility standards. If the proposed hardware and software are not currently army approved, then the offeror shall propose a solution to be able to synchronize the data on the portable device withy the database housed on the army network.
2. Is the current process utilizing strictly paper-based forms? Is there any reporting available?
Answer: Yes, the current process is done in hardcopy. Example of the form is in the attachments.
3. Are these inspections done on a permanent site by site basis? AKA- how often do you add a new site to the list of locations being inspected?
Answer: The inspections are repeated at the established locations on a monthly or quarterly basis, depending on the organization’s compliance status. The army would like the capability to add a site. The army can provide a list of the currently inspected sites in order to create a pick list.
4. Who will have access to the database and/or reporting? Will there need to be different levels of user access or permissions? IE- Inspector, Administrator, etc.
Answer: There will be six (6) inspectors recording information. The army would like to have an administrator level rights to control edits, additions of sites, etc.
5. Will inspections be shared via email after completion?
Answer: The initial concept involves the portable device collecting the inspection findings, coming back to the office to download/sync with main database, generating the standardize report in electronic form (PDF) and hardcopy form. The electronic version would be emailed from existing government computers.
6. Will there be a Wi-Fi network and/or LTE data available for the tablet(s) to transmit information from the devices to the database?
Answer: Option A-No Wi-Fi or cellular capability on the portable device. There will never be Wi-Fi in the field unless the Garrison puts network Wi-Fi across the installation.
Option B- If the database/inspection form cannot function without connectivity, then we need to know this to pursue the cellular capability.
7. Is connectivity available in the field or at each site or will the information be uploaded after an inspection is complete?
Answer: The portable device will not have Wi-Fi or cellular capability.
