About this file
This document is a Question and Answer (Q&A) related to Solicitation W911QY24R0012 for four (4) positive displacement vacuum pump systems. The key details are:
The solicitation is for four vacuum pump systems meeting specific technical requirements, including a minimum 6 horsepower motor, 1-1.25 inch vacuum line size, 208V/60Hz power, and a nominal suction capacity of 75 m3/h. The pump systems are intended for mobile, outdoor use to remove air from closed systems to compress soft-wall insulated walls. No ultimate vacuum level is specified, but 50 mbar is the required vacuum level. Delivery to the US Army CCDC Soldier Center in Natick, MA is required as soon as possible. This is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS code 333914. Proposals are due by 1500 EST on 10 July 2024 and will be evaluated on technical capability and price. The contracting agency is the Department of the Army Materiel Command, Army Contracting Command Aberdeen Proving Ground.

QUESTION AND ANSWER – SOLICITATION W911QY24R0012
18 June 2024
1. Q: Is 5 or 7.5 horsepower acceptable?
A: Yes, both are acceptable. The List of Salient Characteristics states that the minimum motor size required is 6 horsepower (hp). A hp less than 6 is acceptable, but 5 hp is the minimum. The List of Salient Characteristics has been updated to reflect this change.
2. Q: Is a Vacuum Line Size of 1.5” acceptable?
A: Vacuum line size is unclear. If this is in reference to the inlet size of the vacuum, then the size must be 1-1.25” to accommodate hose components for system.
3. Q: What is the application for these vacuum systems?
A: Removal of air from a closed system to compress soft-wall insulated walls for easy compartmentalization and shipment of materials.
4. Q: What should the voltage and frequency of the motor(s) be?
A: 208V, 60 Hz.
5. Q: What is the ultimate vacuum that you want to reach with these vacuum pumping stations?
A: No ultimate vacuum level needed, but a Nominal suction capacity of 75 m3/h is desired.
6. Q: How far would you like to install these vacuum pumps from your systems?
A: Vacuum pumps are intended for mobile applications.
7. Q: What type of gases do you have in your application?
A: Air.
8. Q: Will these vacuum pumping stations be installed in a hazardous area?
A: No.
9. Q: Do you need any inlet filter for these systems?
A: Yes. An inlet filter is needed for these systems to prevent debris and other loose materials from passing through vacuum.
10. Q: Are these vacuum pumps for indoor use or outdoor use?
A: Vacuum pumps will be used primarily for outdoor use but will also be utilized indoors occasionally.
11. Q: Was a vacuum level specified?
A: No. See #5 above.
12. Q: Can you provide any information on the amount of vacuum that needs to be pulled for these vacuum systems? This should be a measurement in inHG ( inches of mercury) or mbar (milibar pressure unit).
A: 50 mbar is the amount of vacuum needed to be pulled by the systems.
13. Q: I don't see a vacuum receiver/tank specified, but you'll need a vacuum tank to act as a buffer to properly operate the vacuum pump system and we commonly include tanks with our vacuum pump skids. Can you clarify if you already have a tank onsite, or if you'd like us to include the tank with our offer?
A: No, we do not desire a tank for our system. We are only moving air.
