Question and Answer Set 1

Q1) The Fire Alarm which is a Simplex system, would require subcontracting with Johnson Controls due to the proprietary programming for adding these suppression systems to the panel. Would NSSC utilize the current alarm vendor to provide this support?

A1) The specifications state:

1. b. (1) Replace with a fully-compliant NFPA and UL wet chemical suppression fire extinguishing system, and electrically tie the system into the facility’s fire alarm system, and gas and electric heat shutoffs per requirements.

1. b. (2) Provide complete coverage under hood, add extinguishing agent as required, tie in fuel shutoffs as required, and connect system to activate facility fire alarm system.

Q2) Would support of trades be provided? Specifically:

· Electrician to wire in new suppression control head microswitches, electrical shut downs, electrical gas valves and CO detection alarm wiring.

· Plumbers to connect and test gas valves where gas is used in cook line

A2) Support through NSSC is not anticipated at this time. The contractor should propose all anticipated work at time of award. Please see answer 1 for details.

Q3) What are the Desired areas to mount new cylinders. Each hood will be total flood/overlap protection that will support frequent appliance line changes so numerous agent cylinders will be used for each of the 3 hoods.

A3) Locations can be determined at time of installation that allow for the best solution.
