QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1. 1.0 GENERAL

1.1 SCOPE: This specification shall apply to a filtration upgrade for the gantry truck wash system at Letterkenny Army Depot. The gantry truck wash is located west of building 351 at Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD), Chambersburg, PA. The filtration upgrades include new 2 new filtration units with back flush capability, controls for the back flush function, If satisfactory filtration can be accomplished for both the pressure washers and the rain test by using a single back flush filtration unit is this satisfy the scope?

A1. The answer is no. There are currently two filters in the gantry truck wash for two separate circulation loops.

One is for the rain test loop and one is for the pressure washer loop.

Both circulation loops will require back flush capability. If the question is with regard to using one filter for two pressure washers; this would be acceptable. LEAD will still need one filter for the rain test loop as well.

Q2. Page 7 of 31; Section 4.1 Item 4.1.5: The filtration systems shall be integrated with system operation such that when back flush is occurring; the rain test remains dormant or the pressure washers remain dormant.

If a back flush system is designed as to not interfere with the operation of the rain test or the pressure wash operation during the back flush, thus not interfering with the basic operation will this be acceptable?

A2. There needs to be two areas of back flush. This is required for the rain test and the pressure wash filters. There can’t be one single system. This is because there are two isolated circulation loops; one for the rain test and one for the pressure washer.

Q3. Page 7 of 24 Section 4.0 Specifications Item 4.1.15 In order to insure the seamlessly workings of the current re circulation system can you furnish schematics of the current control panel?

A3. All available information that can assist in the design will be furnished to the award winner for this solicitation.
