1.0 SCOPE.
This Performance Work Statement (PWS) defines the requirements for the Contractor to engineer, furnish, install and test (EFI&T) new 2-way, 4” manhole/duct-bank infrastructure and 288 strands of single mode fiber optic cable from B949 to Critical Node (CN) B1185 then from (CN) B1185 to (CN) B870 at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea.
2.0 REQUIREMENTS.
This requirement requires a minor adjustment for B1185 fiber expansion which will allow redundant CN support and eliminate the bottleneck bandwidth currently supported from this CN.
Currently the CN at B1185 supports 31 buildings and over 1400 (1488) users and is unable to support the CDNs and CANs that rely on the CN residing at B1185 due to saturation of current
OSP.
ITN Fiber Expansion B1185 – 870 3Q2019 1 Gig pipe coming in and out
31 Buildings
1400 + users
2.00 Mbps Download Speed mean (3 tests)
1.19 Mbps Upload Speed mean (3 tests)
213 Ms Ping Speed Average (3 tests)
If ½ of the users are logged in at one time and are utilizing the internet and downloading an attachment or opening up a webpage or new tab, they would surpass the existing infrastructure’s backbone capacity by 400 Mbps (or 400%) resulting in a perceived “throttled” internet connection and degraded connectivity impacting their mission.
