ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Q& AS

Lithium-Ion Battery Thermal/Humidity Test Chamber

1. Does your sample give off a live load (heat) while testing? If so, can you quantify the live load in Watts?

Answer: Yes, this medical device testing is conducted while the test items are operational, producing heat. It is performed on various unspecified pieces of medical equipment, so it is not possible to identify a specific load (wattage). Historical examples of test items include portable ultrasounds, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, etc.

2. Does your testing require rise/ramp times? If so, can you quantify the rate in C/min?

Answer: Rise/ramp times are not critical. The thermal testing performed is typically saturation testing, i.e. the testing period does not begin until the payload has reached the desired target temperature.

3. What type of cell are you looking to test in the chamber? How many channels are you expecting to test at one time?

Answer: As we test various unspecified pieces of medical equipment, it is not possible to identify a specific number of cells. However, at least four digital data collection channels are preferred.

4. Are you trying to reach a certain standard? Which one?

Answer: We conduct environmental testing on medical devices in accordance with MIL STD 810H. We do not test to battery standards.

5. Do you have a battery cycler already? If so what type of cycler are you using to cycle the cells?

Answer: A battery cycler is not required for our purposes as we test various unspecified pieces of medical equipment. The medical device batteries under evaluation are recharged using the equipment provided by the medical device manufacturer.

6. When do you need the chamber in-house?

Answer: requested Delivery date of 30 December or as soon as possible given the current supply chain climate.

7. In order to get you an accurate quote, could you please leave the exact shipping address that the chamber will be shipped to?

Answer:

USAMRDC Test Branch Building 1054 Patchel Street Fort Detrick, MD 21702.

The following have been modified:
