ANTERIOR VITRECTOMY SYSTEM

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

13 MAY 2020

Question 1: Currently this RFP is issued under 339115 – Ophthalmic Goods Manufacturing. Could you please change to, or add as an option, the NAICS 423450 (Medical, Dental and Hospital Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers)?

Answer 1: The NAICS Code will be revised. See revised Combine Synopsis/Solicitation. However, NAICS 423450 cannot be used per 13 CFR 121, Sector 42 – Wholesale Trade shall not be used to classify Government acquisitions for supplies so 423450 will not be included as an optional NAICS.

Question 2: What procedures do you want the consumables for?

Answer 2: The consumables should include everything needed to perform a limited anterior vitrectomy like what a surgeon might experience during a complicated cataract surgery or pediatric cataract surgery. Consumables are typically everything except the standalone machine/foot pedal/surgical instruments (i.e. items that will not be discarded or resterilized after the case. Consumables might include but not be limited to:

· Phacoemulsification/vitrectomy unit tubing,

· Infusion fluid,

· Potentially irrigation/aspiration instruments (if disposable and if bimanual or single port, should include either)

· Vitrectomy instrument, possibly a phacoemulsification hand-piece (depending on the instrument/system offered)."

**REVISED 13 MAY 2020**

Question 3: Are you looking for a cataract setup or a vitrectomy system? They are two different procedures. Please advise.

Answer 3: This system is intended to be used for anterior procedures and may include procedures such as repairs to the eye structure, removal of scar tissue, removal of cataract.
