Minimum Essential Characteristics (MECs) EyeTracking, Inc. - EyeWorks Pro and EyeWorks Workload Module.

1. The measure of cognitive workload must be completely unobtrusive, require no physical contact with the individual being monitored, and be based on the pupil of the human eye.

1. The system must be capable of tracking the pupil’s response to cognitive workload across a broad range of illuminance conditions, ranging from complete darkness (scotopic) to direct sunlight (photopic) lighting conditions.

1. The system must provide cognitive workload evaluations computed in real-time and calculated from pre-recorded eye tracking data.

1. Calibration of the system should not be required prior to each use.

1. The data generated by this system must be directly compatible with the data collected by other governmental agencies, to include, the FAA, NASA, Navy, and Air Force, as well as leading national and international companies.

1. This system must be compatible with multi-screen visual display applications.

1. The system must be compatible with the SR-Research EyeLink 1000 Desktop (http://www.sr-research.com/eyelink1000.html) eye-tracking systems currently used at USAARL.

1. This system must ensure rapid integration into 3rd party applications such as adaptive automation and cognitively aware systems.

1. The system must provide the functionality to design, record, and analyze cognitive workload tasks and experiments.

1. Design features must include:

9. Guided session scripting with instruction, image, video, and website presentation.

9. Embedded questionnaires within testing script.

9. High definition output support to include projection.

9. Scene camera and external stimulus recording.

1. Record features must include:

10. Recording of eye data and digital point-of-gaze videos.

10. Collect mouse click and key press data.

10. Capture of scrolling information from web pages.

10. Data server for integrating with 3rd party applications.

10. Scene camera, web-camera recording and real-time moderator view.

1. Analyze features must include:

11. GazeSpot, GazeTrace, and GazeStat visualizations.

11. Regions of interest analysis for basic statistics.

11. GazeCluster, Bee Swarm, Dynamic GazeSpot, and video clip generation.

11. Fixation and blink rendering layers.

11. Simple integration with EyeWorks Workload Module latest version.

11. Subgroup visualizations and statistics.

11. Export detailed output to ASCII for further analysis in external programs.

1. The system must include EyeTracking, Inc.’s patented Index of Cognitive Activity Cognitive Workload to measure cognitive workload objectively and unobtrusively in real-time. This metric has been validated in peer-reviewed research in a number of different fields and is used throughout U.S government agencies, in academia, and by leading companies.

1. The system must account for the pupil’s response to changing light conditions independently of changes in cognitive workload task demands.

1. Results provided must be capable of identifying periods of intense workload for an individual during a task, as well as providing sufficient stability to be used to measure task load of multiple tasks.

1. The system must satisfy the four basic requirements of a physiological metric of workload: reflect brain activity, use a continuous signal, be measured unobtrusively, and used in real-world and laboratory settings.

1. Must include On-Site Training at Fort Rucker, AL.
