a. If a 2-D data matrix is present, use a handheld data matrix reader (WP 0344 00, Item 66) or an equivalent and scan the 2-D data matrix. If the scan is successful, proceed to paragraph 1.d and/or 1.e. If the scan is not successful after two attempts, proceed to paragraph 1.b.
Isopropyl alcohol is flammable and toxic to eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Wear protective gloves and goggles/face shield. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact. Use only in well ventilated areas (or use approved respirator as determined by local safety/industrial hygiene personnel). Keep away from open flames, sparks, or other sources of ignition.
b. Clean the 2-D data matrix with a cloth (WP 0343, Item 26) moistened with isopropyl alcohol (WP 0343 00, Item 59) and scan again. If the third scan is successful, proceed to paragraph 1.d and/or 1.e. If the third scan is not successful, use the HRI to query the DoD IUID Registry (paragraph d.(2)) and/or TAMMS-A/MCDS, UID database (paragraph 1.e.(2)).
c. For items that require IUID marking and that have no 2-D data matrix present (only an original nameplate or marking), proceed to paragraph d.(2) or e.(2).
d. Query the DoD IUID Registry via the WAWF (WP 0338 00, Websites) as follows:
(1) DoD IUID Registry home page, select “Queries”, then “Single Item Query” and place the recorded UII data into the “UII*” field. If the query returns a record, proceed to paragraph 1.f. If the query does not return a record, proceed to d.(2) below.
(2) Using the human readable manufacturer serial number on the component (may be indicated by SER, Serial No., Ser No., S/N, SN, SER, SEQ, etc.), query the DoD IUID Registry. Select “Queries” then “Mark Query”.

If a database record matches the component data exactly, proceed to paragraph1.f. If no registry record can be matched exactly to the component data, (i.e., did not have a registered UII), an IUID data plate(s) shall be fabricated IAW WP 0002 00 and the applicable component's work package.
f. Record Data.
(1) Ensure the data in the DoD IUID Registry and/or TAMMS-A/MCDS, UID database record matches the component data (resident on the component or within its accompanying historical records). If all data matches, record all pertinent component data required to fabricate the IUID data plate (UII data elements, Sikorsky or Vendor PN (if applicable) and all other data requirements resident on the component and/or in the registry record). It is necessary that all recorded data be matched to the same end item, assembly, or component on which they were found during PSA. Refer to WP 0002 00 and the component's specific work package for IUID data plate marking and fabrication requirements.
(2) If the recorded data in the DoD IUID Registry and/or TAMMS-A/MCDS, UID database record does not match the component data, (i.e., did not have a registered UII), a legacy IUID data plate shall be fabricated IAW WP 0002 00 and the applicable component's work package."
