JAB Overview - M1110 Joint Assault Bridge (JAB) JAB replaced the M48/60 AVLB and M104 Wolverine to provide improved mobility to the BCT.
The JAB is a fully tracked armor engineer vehicle specifically designed to provide assault bridging capabilities to armored forces. Improvements on speed/mobility and crew/system survivability over the legacy system enhances the maneuver forces ability to breach complex obstacles.

JAB Overview JAB System Description
Program Description: The M1110 Joint Assault Bridge (JAB), an Acquisition Category (ACAT) – II program provides the Army Mobility Augmentation Companies and Brigade Engineer Battalions supporting Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCT) with a survivable, deployable and sustainable heavy assault bridging capability. The JAB provides a gap crossing capability to cross wet or dry gaps to provide freedom of maneuver on the battlefield and keep pace with Abrams ABCT operations. The JAB improves survivability, mobility and supportability for the warfighter. The JAB System consists of an M1A1 Abrams chassis (with A2 heavy suspension upgrade) and a hydraulic Bridge Launch Mechanism (BLM) that will launch and retrieve the Heavy Assault Scissor Bridge (HASB) with Military Load Classification (MLC) 115 Normal / 124 Caution. The M1A1 chassis and HASB are produced by Anniston Army Depot, AL. The incumbent, DRS of West Plains, MO produces the BLM on a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract and delivers the fully integrated JAB system to the United States Army.
JAB Chassis: A JAB Chassis is the end deliverable and is comprised of the M1A1 (w/heavy A2 suspension) with the BLM integrated.
JAB System: A JAB Chassis with the HASB installed. The HASB is provided to gaining units which completes a JAB System.
Current Production of a JAB chassis system is ~12 to 14 months Stage-1: Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) performs all work associated with the hull (8 months) Stage-2: OEM integrates the BLM onto the GFM provided M1A1 (w/heavy A2 suspension) chassis (6 months)
