INTENT:
FHTV Protection Kits
PdM-HTV is in the planning stages for the potential procurement of HEMTTA4, PLSA1, and M915A5 Protection Kits manufactured in varying volumes over a five-year period. FHTV Protection Kit manufacturing consists of cutting, drilling, and finishing of armor plate, welding, procurement of commercial components, subsystem assembly, painting, ballistic and weld coupon certifications, quality verifications, a physical configuration audit, and packaging. The Government owns the product level technical data packages (TDPs) for the five FHTV Protection Kit variants, each TDP with unlimited rights to the kit design.
DESCRIPTION:
The FHTV Protection Kits consist of the following:
· Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) A4 Long Term Armor Strategy (LTAS) Armor B-Kit
· Palletized Load System (PLS) A1 LTAS Armor B-Kit
· M915A5 LTAS Armor B-Kit
· HEMTTA4 Tanker Armor Module (TAM)
· HEMTTA4 and PLSA1 Underbody Protection Kit
The FHTV Protection Kits are constructed of panels of common armor material and assembled by a conventional means to the production vehicle.
The HEMTTA4 and PLSA1 Top and Side Armor B-Kits are installed on top of the current truck cabs. The top and side armor kits consist of seven armor panels including a top, sides and doors, as well as front and rear armor panels. The HEMTTA4 and PLSA1 cabs measure roughly 70 inches (in) x 100 in x 63 in with the armor kits installed.
The M915A5 top and side Protection Kits (Armor B-Kit) are installed on top of the current truck cabs. The M915A5 top and side armor kit consists of eleven (11) panels. The M915A5 truck cab with armor installed measures roughly 85 in x 100 in x 63 in.
The HEMTTA4 Tanker Armor Module (TAM) kit protects the pump module on the rear of the HEMTT M978A4 Tanker. The TAM consists of top, side, front, and rear panels. The TAM kit, once assembled, measures roughly 55 in x 100 in x 48 in.
The HEMTTA4 and PLSA1 underbody Protection Kits (Underbody Armor Kit) armor kits are installed to the bottom of the current truck cabs and complement the top and side armor kits. The underbody kit consists of four (4) armor panels including wheel wells, approach, and bottom plate. The underbody protection kit, once assembled, measures roughly 36 in x 100 in x 63 in.
