Questions and Answers

The following questions have been submitted in response to solicitation W52P1J-19-R-0127.

Q1. Does the "Projectile Nose Plug 1325-00-124-1538 921180" require a forging for the blank? Can it be machined out of bar?

A1. The part must be a forging per the TDP requirements, and cannot be machined from bar.

Q2. Does tooling exist for the forging? If so, can I get the location?

A2. Tooling may exist for the forging, but is not owned by the U.S. Government. It is the offeror's responsibility to find or procure tooling.

Q3. Is there a drawing for the raw (unmachined) forging available for Projectile Nose Plug 1325-00-124-1538 921180?

A3. There is no drawing for the raw forging. Offerors can build the forging however they like, as long as the final product meets the drawing and spec requirements.

Q4. Part no. 9211803, NSN 1325-00-124-1538 Nose, has a spec call out for the forging ASTM-A-235 that is obsolete. I believe it is superseded by: ASTMA668/A668M. If this is correct, I would need to know what class the forgings should be produced to.

A4. Forgings need to meet ASTM A668, Class E or F, Grade X2 to be equivalent to forgings per ASTM A 235 and Brinnell 167 minimum per the TDP.
