1.2.4. Storz Coupling:
5180RZAG
1.3. O eror’s quote shall address the specifications of the following, at a minimum, for all items:
1.3.1. Jackets, Lining, Adhesion, Cold Temperature Flexibility, Flow and Friction Loss, Kink Test, Service, Test, and Burst Pressures, Weight, Couplings, Manufacturer Standards, and Warranty.
2. REQUIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
The hose shall be designed and constructed specifically for aggressive firefighting operations and meet or exceed the requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1961 Standard on Fire Hose and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) performance requirements.
2.1. THE HOSE SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM STANDARD FEATURES:
2.1.1. Construction:
a. The inner hose jacket alone shall be a NFPA compliant Attack Hose, made with 100% filament polyester warp and weft yarn.
Attachment 2 W51AA1-24-Q-0095 Page 2 of 3
b. The outer jacket shall be made with virgin spun polyester warp yarn and a minimum of 10 filament polyester weft yarn picks per.
c. The jacket shall have two (2) each 5/8” (16mm) wide stripes, color red, running the full length of the jacket at 1/4” apart from each other.
d. The outer jacket shall be impregnated in one of the standard NFPA colors with high performance polymeric dispersion.
e. The lining (waterway) must be made from polyurethane and must be applied using a fused process that welds the polyurethane directly to the textile while the hose is being woven, without the use of adhesives or hot melt. The fused lining process must create a virtually inseparable unit without the use of adhesives, yielding an extremely low friction (pressure) loss by filling in the corrugations of the weave, creating an ultra-thin and smooth waterway. The lining shall be approved for use with potable water.
f. Adhesion shall be such that the rate of separation of a 1-1/2” strip of polyurethane, transversely cut, shall not be greater than 1/4” per minute under a weight of 12 pounds.
g. Hose shall remain flexible to negative 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
h. Hose shall contain a treatment to protect against abrasion, moisture pick up and mildew.
2.1.2. Kink Test:
a. High Pressure – A full length shall withstand, without damage, a hydrostatic pressure of 600 psi while kinked.
b. Low Pressure – For Sizes up to 2-1/2”, the hose shall not kink when formed into a 25” wide loop (outside measure) at 60 psi internal water pressure.
For Sizes of 3”, the hose shall not kink when formed into a 36” wide loop (outside measure) at 60 psi internal water pressure.
2.1.3. Flow and Friction Loss:
a. 1.75” Diameter @ 100 US GPM, shall not exceed 6.9 PSI loss per 100 feet.
2.1.4. Weight:
a. Each length of un-coupled fire hose shall not weigh more than indicated in the specification table located in paragraph (para) 2.1.6. of this document.
2.1.5. Service, Test and Burst Pressures:
a. Minimum service, test and burst pressures shall be as detailed in the specification table located in para 2.1.6. of this document.
