About this file

This document provides details for a sole source contract opportunity for rental crane services at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. The Blue Grass Army Depot Contracting Office intends to award a contract to Craneworks, Inc. for rental crane services with a licensed operator and rigging person. The services require a 24-hour response time and annual FAA certification to provide access to Alabama Joint National Guard facilities at the airport. The estimated contract value is $40,000 with a period of performance from March 15, 2024 to March 14, 2025. Failure to load weapons systems in a timely manner could reduce capabilities to support global reaction force initiatives abroad. While other crane companies may be able to obtain access and certification to work at the airport, the need is immediate and for less than one year. The statutory authority cited is the Federal Acquisition Regulation for simplified procedures for certain commercial products and services. Interested parties can submit a proposal by March 7, 2024 for consideration.
