About this file
This document appears to be a series of questions and answers related to a compressor installation project, likely for a military facility. The discussion covers several key technical and logistical details, including that air dryers and line filters are excluded from the current scope of work but could potentially be included in a turn-key installation. The site uses Johnson Controls for system controls, with the DDC controller managed in-house by the Civil Engineering Squadron. For equipment removal and installation, the previous contractor used United Rentals for equipment transportation, and no on-site forklift is available. The government requires the old compressor to be removed and turned in per regulation, with final disposition to occur at a marshaling yard approximately 500 yards from the work location. Additional technical considerations include potential vibration isolation pads to minimize noise and an existing HVAC system connection that was previously modified by an electrician during a prior compressor installation in the Corrosion Hanger.

Did not see any mention of air dryers or line filters. Could you please confirm if these are required as part of the installation, or if they are excluded from this scope of work?
They are excluded from the scope of work but if you wanted to include this work as part of your turn key installation, that would be great.
Is the existing HVAC system connection for the compressor control already configured, or do we need to modify it to integrate with the new master controller?
The previous contractors who installed the compressors in the Corrosion Hanger brought in an electrician to modify the power and added the integration computer.
Are vibration isolation pads or additional mounting requirements needed for the new compressors?
It would be best if they were installed to keep the noise level down. Most compressors have them integrated into the base of the compressor already. If the compressors are on vibration pads, they are not required to be mounted.
Can you tell us who handles your controls on base?
Johnson controls is the company that we use but it is wired through the DDC controller in house in the Civil Engineering Squadron. The system is not required to be wired into the main control system.
Is there a forklift on site we can use to remove the old compressor and install the new one?
Unfortunately, no. I cannot authorize our equipment to be used for this process. The previous contractor used United Rentals, and we coordinated the drop off of the equipment directly outside the work room.
Does the Govt. want the old compressor?
Yes, it must be turned in per regulation. Once removed from the room, it will be taken to our marshaling yard about 500 yards down the street and remain on site for disposition.
