Replace Lift Station Bldg #16 Contractor Questions.

Questions: Black

Answers: Red

1. What size is required for the new lid and access hatch?

A square double door hinged access lid is the preferred option (See Figure one attached below). 36” X 48” access lid or similar size would be adequate since this will allow easy access to the lift pumps. The lid, however, would need to be traffic rated since it is being installed in a designated traffic area.

2. Will the lift station require new rails and if yes would they be galvanized or stainless-steel material?

New rails will be required, and we would recommend they be stainless steel to prevent corrosion.

3. Will the project require all new floats and cables to be installed?

All new floats and cables will need to be installed. Existing floats and cables are damaged and will need to be replaced.

4. Should the hour meters for both pumps be replaced in the control panel?

Since the pumps are being replaced new hour meters should be considered. Also, existing hour meters do not seem to be tabulating pump hours accurately so they will need to be replaced eventually.

5. Will there be a one-foot midsection above grade for access lid?

A raised midsection should not be installed since this is a designated traffic area and would also cause problems during snow removal. It would be preferred that the new reinforced lid be installed flush with existing pavement.

6. If there is a raised midsection above grade will bollards need to be installed?

Traffic rated access lid should be installed flush with existing pavement therefore not hindering the flow of traffic through the area. Since this is the case bollards will not be required.

7. Will demoed pavement areas be replaced with asphalt or concrete?

Due to the time of year the project will be taking place asphalt material may be difficult to obtain. If this is the case contractor will be permitted to use concrete to replace demoed pavement.

8. What percentage will be required for payment performance bonds?

20% of costs

9. What percentage will be required for bid bonds on the project?

20% of costs
