RFI #QuestionGovernment Response
1How many copper cables are in each building and how many would need to be demoed?BLDG 37

JAOC Main – 117 lines JAOC Jr – 45 lines Annex – 42 lines + 10 home run lines CFP/SysAd Areas – 45 lines

BLDG 280

Offices/VTC/Briefing Rm – 33 lines Targets – 18 lines ACF – 39 lines ISR – 30 lines

REMOVAL

JAOC – Estimated 132 lines

2Is the fiber to go on a wall faceplate or a modular furniture faceplate? & What would be the quantities for either and/or both? All items are wall/floorplate and would need to be replaced for all items. In bldg. 280 the additional fiber runs would be 40 lines with re-termination of the other 80 lines.
3With fiber lead times on special order colors do the specific colors listed in the PWS matter or can we provide any color fiber as long as we provide (3) different colors? Will need Red in bldg. 37 and any two additional colors. Will need red and yellow and any additional color in bldg. 280
4Do the secret and top secret fibers need to run in completely separate pathways both above/below the ceiling and in wire mold/surface mounted raceway when exiting the ceiling running to the work area outlets? The fibers do not need to be ran in separate pathways, just bundled separately on the same J-hook in the ceiling. The wire mold/surface mounted raceways will need to be separated secret and top secret.
5Do the secret and top secret fibers need to terminate to (2) completely separate surface mount boxes at the work area outlet?Yes
6Are we to provide fiber patch cords? If so, are we to provide fiber patch cords for both the IT closet end as well as the work area outlet? Do the colors of patch cord need to match the colors of fiber provided? What length patch cord shall be provided at each end?No patch cords will be needed. This will be completed by the unit
7Do the secret and top secret fibers need to terminate to (2) separate rack mount fiber enclosures in the IT closet end?Yes
8In Building 280 Room 4103 and 4105 locations had (1) 2 strand fiber that will remain. Can you confirm the color of that existing fiber at those locations only?Red
9In Building 280 several locations have existing fiber to remain that will be re-terminated. Can you confirm the fiber type? (Ex: OM1, OM2, OM3 or OM4).OM3
10The PWS mentions only “multimode” fiber, what is the desired type to be quoted for new fiber being installed? OM1, OM2, OM3, or OM4?OM3
11Building 280 it was mentioned that the new cables in the back with the existing cabinet can be cabled to that existing cabinet. Are the existing cables currently terminated in that cabinet or in the basement MDF? If they are cabled to the basement does the government still want the new cables terminated in the upstairs cabinet? (Not sure if this considered or not or if it makes a difference to the USG)Decision has been made to remove the additional cabinet so all cabeling will need to be ran to the Comm Closet and terminated there.
12Question 4 specifies that secret and Top Secret be separated and not in the same boxes. Will there be top secret in building 37? If so can they be terminated in the same floor box?No top secret in Bldg 37
13What brand of floor boxes are currently there? And what brand of wall plates are being used?Branding of both is unknown. No indication of brand on product itself and documentation of purchase for those products is unavailable or assumed lost.
14With lead times on special order cassettes and quantity minimums for special colors other than aqua can the fiber be terminated in rake mounted fiber patch panels with splice trays and adapter plates? No issues, as long as the fiber patch panels are terminated with an LC connection.
15Will we be responsible for moving furniture and computers so there is access to the raised floor? No, the Government will remove all furniture and computers needed to be removed.
16How long do you have to complete the job from start to finish? There is not a set performance period in the solicitation, and vendors are requested to quote a delivery/installation schedule in number of calendar days after receipt of the notice-to-proceed, to be issued once a post-award orientation conference has been completed. NOTE: This was listed in "calendar days after date of contract" in the solicitation and has been corrected to "after notice to proceed" in Amendment 1 posted on SAM.gov.
