W50S8A-21-Q-0034 Q&A – 26 JUL 2021

1. What is the intended application/use for the requested nitrogen generation system?

a. The intended application/use for the requested nitrogen generation system is to inflate aircraft tires.

2. The purities requested are a very wide range – is there a more specific requirement for minimum allowable oxygen content based on specified application?

a. We require 95-99.5% Nitrogen Purities

2. The range of purities is most commonly supplied via air separation membranes, but the solicitation reference a different technology (carbon molecular sieve). Will an offering that uses air separation membranes be given equal consideration provided it meets the remaining performance criteria?

a. Yes, an offer that uses air separation membranes will be given equal consideration provided it meets the remaining performance criteria.

3. The solicitation calls for a pressure of “at least 200 psi”. What is the maximum allowable working pressure for this application?

a. 200 psi is the highest we will ever service a tire, we may set the working pressure to 220 psi but at 250 psi you run the risk of having a relief valve blow out.

5. The solicitation calls for an output of “39 cf a day”. What constitutes a day in the context of this solicitation … 8 hours? 24 hours?

a. A day will be 9 hours

6. Is there any provision for nitrogen storage as part of this application?

a. Yes, there should be an integrated storage tank

7. For additional context, the request for a PSA-type generator with a delivery pressure of “at least 200 psi” is untenable. I know of no current PSA supplier that can accommodate those pressures by themselves; as such, in order to reach this minimum pressure they would also have to provide a downstream booster to get the pressures to requested levels.

a. Yes, In order to get the desired pressure 200 psi the system will be required to have a downstream booster.
