About this file
This Request for Information Worksheet (RFIW) details a solicitation for replacing a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) door assembly for the 136th Airlift Wing at a geographically separated unit in Tyler, Texas. The solicitation (W50S7625QA006) is a 100% small business set-aside requiring the contractor to furnish labor, parts, tools, equipment, and materials to replace and install a new SCIF door assembly. Key technical details include the door being installed on the second floor with an elevator access, requiring metal stud wall installation with a ½" plywood layer, and a wall thickness of approximately 6 inches. The new door will be larger than the existing door (39" wide x 84" high versus 35-3/4" wide x 83-1/2" high), necessitating reframing and refinishing of the rough opening.
Contractors must complete an AGTX Form 32 and a Non-Disclosure Agreement, with access contingent upon a background check. The manufacturer must certify the door assembly meets specifications outlined in the Statement of Work, with performance demonstrated through standard certification documentation and a government shield test after installation. Specific requirements include meeting the Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating specified in the SOW. The Request for Information was to be submitted by 2:00 PM CT on 24 July 2025 to 136.AW.MSC@us.af.mil, with the opportunity managed by the Department of the Army National Guard.

Questions and Answers
Number Question
1 Will this door be installed on the ground floor?
Answer No. The door will be installed on the second floor. An elevator is available for use.
2 Will we need any special equipment to place this door?
Answer No.
3 What kind of wall is this going into? CMU, metal stud...?
Answer Metal stud. However, there is a layer of ½” thick plywood on the controlled side (i.e. inside of room side of studs).
4 What is the thickness of the existing wall?
Answer Approximately 6 inches from outside gypsum to outermost layer of inner gypsum. See attached PowerPoint.
5 Will we need any special badging and training to work in the facility where this door is to be located?
Answer Employees will need to fill out an AGTX Form 32 IAW the SOW and fill out an NDA. Completion of AFTX Form 32 does not guarantee access. A background check will be run on the individual to ensure that they may work on the installation. No other special badging is required.
6 May I please have the NDA and additional information related to this requirement?
Answer The NDA is attached to the posting(SF312-23 NDA.pdf).
7 What is the specified performance criteria for the completed shielding system as a whole? We do not see this specified.
Answer Manufacturer will certify the assembly meets specifications as outlined in the SOW.
8 How is performance to be demonstrated to the client? Is there an expectation for the entire system to pass a shield test in the field? The SOW says only that the contractor must demonstrate meet but does not say how.
Answer The manufacturer will provide standard certification documentation verifying that each door meets the specified shielding capabilities during production. A test will be conducted by the government after installation to ensure a passing shield test.
9 Is the elevator large enough to fit the door frame, we need at least 88" in height or better yet, length. If not we will need to use a stair climber.
Answer The elevator door is about 83” tall and 42” wide. Elevator dimensions after door: 99” tall, 93” wide, 70” deep.
The documentation refers to a SCIF-type door, but I'm uncertain about the required classification level or the expected safety standard.
For similar projects, particularly for military vessels, we often use RC3/RC4 tested doors. These can be customized with accessories outlined in the appendix. Would this door specification meet the needs of your project? Additionally, could you please clarify if there are any acoustic requirements or a specific dB rating that should be taken into account?
Answer RC ratings are not relevant for SCIF doors. The door must meet the STC rating in the SOW.
The “Wall Thickness_Door Photos.pdf” document, page 1, states that the existing door panel is 35-3/4” Wide x 83-1/2” High. These measurements appear consistent with the pictures. The original SOW states that the new door panel will be 39” Wide x 84” high. For a point of reference and in order to have a code compliant opening, the Krieger dB60 combo STC50 door panel size is required to be at least 38” Wide x 82-1/4” High. Therefore, neither the SOW requested door size or the minimum code compliant door panel size will work within the existing rough opening. The rough opening will need to be reframed for a larger door panel, which significantly expands the scope of this project. We’d need to understand the height of the partition and any security requirements around reframing and refinishing the rough opening.
Answer This is correct. The new door is larger than the original. Adjustments to include new framing and finishing will be necessary to ensure the door fits properly and meets standards.
