About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) version 2 for solicitation W50S72-25-Q-7102 for a Metals Hardness Tester. The Q&A addresses three specific technical clarifications about the equipment requirements. First, the government confirms that conversions to Brinell hardness measurements are acceptable for the light force Brinell testing. Second, the requirement to hold test force load for at least 2 minutes is necessary for accurately testing precision parts on 70-year-old Air Force aircraft. Third, the "continuous test function" is clarified to mean a simple 1-button push test, rather than a more complex automated multi-axis testing system.

W50S72-25-Q-7102 – METALS HARDNESS TESTER – Q & A V. 2

1. Light Force Brinell – Is this really going to be used in a Brinell Mode for testing, or are conversions to Brinell acceptable?

Conversions to Brinell are acceptable

2. Capable of holding test force load at least 2 minutes. Is this really necessary?

And for what purpose, may I ask?

Yes, in order to accurately test precision parts on 70 year old Air Force aircraft

3. Continuous test function – Can you describe what is specifically referred to by this? A continuous machine would need multiple automatic axis(3x), to change positions for diƯerent indents on same part, or if diƯerent part, would require other automation to bring part to unit for testing. Or are they just looking for a 1 button push test? There are great diƯerences between these scenarios.

1 button push test
