About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for solicitation W50S72-25-Q-7102 for a Metals Hardness Tester. The Q&A provides specific technical requirements and preferences for the tester, including that only non-optical Rockwell testing is required. IAANG seeks a Windows-based system with multiple USB and RJ45/LAN ports, capable of testing specimens up to 15.5 inches in height and 5.5 inches in depth. Data management requirements are minimal, with the base only needing to print data results and preferring CSV file formats.

The document clarifies that the tester should not export data directly to the network or to Microsoft applications like Excel. The key specifications include: non-optical Rockwell testing method, Windows-based system, support for USB and LAN ports, ability to handle large specimens, print-only data output, and CSV file generation. These details suggest a straightforward, functional approach to metals hardness testing with minimal advanced data management requirements.

W50S72-25-Q-7102 – METALS HARDNESS TESTER

1) Rockwell is a non-optical test method which does not require lenses for measurement, where Brinell is an optical method requiring measurement lenses. The indenter sizes specified in the notice are compatible only with Rockwell (non-optical) testing, but do not meet the requirements for Brinell (optical) testing.

Please clarify if only non-optical methods are required or if both non-optical and optical methods are required.

Non-optical rockwell testing only is required.

2) The proposed tester includes multiple USB ports and an RJ45/LAN port. Will this meet IAANG’s requirements?

Yes

3) Would IAANG prefer a Windows-based system or a firmware-based system?

Windows based system

4) What are the dimensions of the largest specimen IAANG plans to test?

15.5 inches in height, 5.5 inches in depth

5) How would the base like to manage their data?

Just need to be able to print a copy of data results. Don’t need long term data storage.

6) Do they want their tester to be able to export directly to their network?

No

7) Do they only need csv. Files or raw data?

CSV Files

8) Do they want their machine to be able to export directly to MS applications like excel?
