RFI Q&A - 22 JULY 2024
1. First, they ask for 11 L Shaped Desks and Office Desk Task Chairs in sections 1 and 2 - but under “Install Plan”, they ask for 2 desks in room 2; 3 desks in room 3; 1 desk in room 4; 1 desk in room 5; 1 desk in room 6; 1 desk in room 7; and 1 desk in room 10. That is a total of 10 desks – not 11. I assume 10 is correct. If not, where will the 11th desk go? The same applies to desk chairs. Can you verify this?
ANSWER: Amendment 03 to the Statement of Work posted on 22 July 2024. The total number of L shaped desks and task chairs is 10 each.
2. Their description of the L-shaped desks makes no sense at all. They talk about 4 foot on the short side and 5 foot on the long side and being 5’ x 5’ when placed together. However, unless one side or the other was only 1 foot deep, you can’t make a 5’ x 5’ desk. And to further confuse this they add 2 bullet points specifying “One 72” x 24” shell credenza with full modesty panel” and “One 48” x 24” shell credenza with full modesty panel”. Well if you put these together in a L-shape, you would have a 6’ x 6’ desk. I am thinking they want a 6’ x 6’ desks, but I don’t want to assume. We can build either 6’ x 6’ or 5’ x 5’ desks. It looks like either would work in the offices if the dimensions on the floor plan are correct. Given the people at these desks could be larger and because they want 2 mobile pedestals at each desk, 6’ x 6’ would probably be preferable. Could you verify this with them?
ANSWER: Amendment 02 to the Statement of Work defined the L shaped desk size as one 60” x 24” credenza and one 48” x 24” credenza. When placed together, they form a 5’ x 6’ L shaped desk.
Please review Amendment 02.
3. Locking hutch doors are available in 5-foot and 6-foot hutches from HON and in 6-foot hutches from Performance Laminate but not their 5-foot hutches. The size of the L-shaped desks would probably determine whether we quote HON or import.
ANSWER: Amendment 02 defined the hutch size as 60”. The solicitation does not call for a specific brand of furniture.
4. The imported Performance line offers 6-foot x 3-foot (72” x 36”) oval conference tables or 8-foot x 3.5-foot (96” x 42”) oval conference tables only. HON has a 7-foot table - but it is 42” deep. Looking at the dimensions of Room 1 (13’0” x 9’5”) I think they are correct in asking for a table that is not wider than 36”. But will they accept a 6-foot x 3-foot oval conference table?
ANSWER: The solicitation does not call for a specific brand of furniture. The amended statement of work states the table shall be 84” in length; however, a size variance of up to 3” increase is allowed.
5. Fifth, import product has 5-year warranty. HON has limited lifetime warranty for HON 10500 Series desking. How important is the warranty?
ANSWER: Evaluation factors for this solicitation are technical, past performance and price, per paragraph 10 on page 11 of the solicitation document.
