Amendment No. 1 – Q & A 28 August 2020

1. Please provide standoff distance and explosive weight requirements for the windows.

a. This area is not within an explosive safety arc. See answer to question 3 below regarding window blast requirements.

2. Base bid item 1: Is the contractor responsible for temporary hot water to the building while the existing hot water heater and tank are being replaced?

a. No temporary hot water will be required. Any hot water outages shall be coordinated with the project manager and scheduled over a non‐drill weekend.

3. Base bid item 3: Do the new windows have to meet blast window requirements

a. Blast loading shall match the original design specs, which states: “Blast Loading: Frames shall be designed based on 0.2 percent offset yield strength under equivalent static design loads of 7 kilopascals (1 pound per square inch) applied to the surface of the glazing and frame from exterior exposure. Deformation shall not exceed 1/60th of the unsupported member lengths. Glazing shall have a minimum frame bite of 25 mm (1 inch).”

4. Base bid item 4: Is the contractor responsible for removal of furniture for flooring installation

a. Contractor shall only be responsible for the removal and re‐installation of the bolted down theater seats in the 211th classroom. All other furniture will be moved by the occupants. Contractor will likely have to floor rooms in phases, i.e. the occupants will move the furniture to one half of the room while the flooring is replaced in the other half, and then repeat for the other half.

5. Bid Option: Can as‐built drawings be made available for this area, in particular for electrical and telecom?

a. As‐builts for this area attached.

6. Bid Option: Would a power/data power pole provide an adequate solution for the new reception desk?

a. Yes, a power/data pole would be acceptable.

7. Bid Option: How many power and telecom drops need to be removed/relocated for the new layout?

a. Compare as‐builts provided to the proposed layout.

8. Please provide the amount of the bid guarantee. Item 10 on the form 1442 notes the bid bond as being required but the amount is blank in section 52.228‐1.

a. The bid guarantee is 20% or $3M; whichever is less.
