THREAT PROTECTION & VULNERABILITY MANAGEMENT
Overview
The AAM1000 is an ID reassignment machine to use after the OSL and FNTD reads, but before the watches are reassembled. This reassignment machine will accept a slide cassette as an INPUT stream. See Figure 1.
The slides in the cassettes must include the original OSL dosimeters of the slide that have already been read, and possibly annealed. The slides must also include an FNTD that has already been read and possibly annealed, but which may not be the original FNTD that belonged to this slide. The machine will advance the first slide into position where the machine will optically read the serial number of the FNTD on the slide. The slide will then be moved to and RFID read/write position, where the FNTD serial number will be written into the appropriate memory location on the RFID on the slide. The existing FNTD serial number on the RFID will simply be overwritten without a warning message. The OSL serial number on the RFID will not be changed. The machine will then place the slide back into the position in the cassette where it came from and repeat the process with the next slide, or until there is an empty position in the cassette, or until all slides in the cassette have been processed. The cassette that has gone through this process can be used as an input cassette for the automated reassembly machine, the ARM1000.
Benefits Customers wish to reduce the manual labor to reassign the FNTD ID numbers for the reassembled DT 236A watch dosimeters before sending them back to the field.
The Landauer DT 236A leaves Landauer with the OSL serial number and the FNTD chip serial number of the FNTD chip affixed to it embedded in the RFID. In addition, the FNTD chip has its serial number engraved onto the surface of the FNTD chip.
For the purpose of reading the dose from the OSL and the FNTD, the slides are separated from their watch shells.
Normally the FNTDs are separated from the slides after the slides have gone through the Automatic High Capacity OSL Reader to read the OSL dosimeters. The customer personnel manually separates the FNTDs in the slides and places them in the FNTD reader.
The FNTD reader reads each on the FNTD on its tray. To complete the dose calculations, the FNTD reader automatically findsthe corresponding OSL results (by FNTD ID number and the corresponding DT 236A serial number) from the dedicated SQL database. The entries in the SQL database are populated during the OSL reads with the High Capacity Readers. For the process to work correctly, the OSL read must complete first.
After the FNTD chips and the OSL chips in a given DT 236A have been read, and both the FNTD chips and the OSL chips annealed (if needed or desired), there is a need to insert an FNTD chip to a DT 236A slide. Due to the fragile nature of the FNTDs, it is not possible to automate the process of separating the FNTDs from the slides or to place them back into the slides. While it is possible to keep track of which FNTD came from which watch, the logistics of such housekeeping are rather daunting. At the same time, for proper matching of the data from the OSL and the FNTD, the serial numbers of the OSL and the ID number of the FNTD must be correctly stored into the RFID in the watch. The AAM1000 does this reassignment of the FNTD ID number into the RFIDs automatically.
