IMPLEMENTATION OF SECURITY REQUIREMENTS SAFEGUARDING COVERED DEFENSE INFORMATION

(a) Contractor is able to comply with most, but not all, of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication

(SP) 800-171 security controls for Covered Defense Information (CDI) on all covered Contractor information systems that support the performance of this contract in accordance with DFARS 252.204-7012, Safeguarding of Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident

Reporting and 252.204-7012, Safeguarding of Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting (DEVIATION 2016-O0001). In accordance with Interim Rule 80 FR 81472 the mandatory date of implementation of the security requirements specified by NIST SP 800-171 shall be extended until December 31, 2017.

(b) Contractor is currently assessing its supply bases ability to provide adequate security for CDI on all covered Contractor information systems that support the performance of work under this contract in accordance with DFARS 252.204-7012, Safeguarding of

Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting and 252.204-7012, Safeguarding of Covered Defense Information and Cyber

Incident Reporting (DEVIATION 2016-O0001).

(c) Upon the Contracting Officers provision of advance written notice to Contractor as to the CDI anticipated to be furnished by the

Contractor will provide an estimate of projected costs for implementation of such alternative security measures.

(d) CDI will not be provided to the Contractor, and the Contractor shall not be directed to generate CDI, unless and until the

Government has determined that the Contractors proposed plan of alternative but equally effective security measures is acceptable or as otherwise agreed to in writing.

(e) If, subsequent to the effective date of this contract, additional scope associated with the referenced clause is required to be implemented to satisfy the requirements of DFARS 252.204-7012 or (DEVIATION 2016-O0001), all applicable, allocable and allowable costs shall be subject to the Changes clause of the contract and any resulting equitable adjustment.
