Contract Summary
This is a procurement specification document issued by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for the Widett Layover Facility project (Contract No. F60PS01), detailing requirements for 25kV AC overhead contact system motorized-operated disconnect switches. The procurement encompasses the manufacture, quality control, testing, and delivery of electrical equipment including six single-pole manual disconnect switches, three single-pole motorized disconnect switches, and one double-pole motorized disconnect switch. The supplier is responsible for design, manufacturing, factory testing, and delivery of materials to 100 Foodmart Road, Boston, MA 02118, with a required delivery date of September 2, 2027. Materials remain at manufacturer's risk until acceptance by MBTA, with rejected items requiring replacement at manufacturer's expense within one month. Prior to manufacture, complete shop drawings must be submitted for approval by the Authority.
The specification establishes comprehensive technical and performance requirements aligned with ANSI C37 series standards, IEEE guidelines, and industry best practices for high-voltage electrical equipment. Disconnect switches must be rated for 13.8kV to ground (25kV minimum voltage class), 1,200A continuous current, and 61,000A momentary current at 60Hz frequency, with capability to withstand short circuits up to 20kA. The supplier must provide all relevant material certifications, bills of lading, shipping manifests, and support documentation at least ten business days prior to delivery. The contractor assumes responsibility for site infrastructure, installation, and final testing. Payment structure includes three separate unit price items (1600.346P, 1600.347P, and 1600.348P) covering all supplier costs including materials, transportation, handling, delivery, and required testing. A one-year manufacturer's warranty is specified from the date of installation for equipment non-compliance with specified performance requirements.
