SOLICITATION QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
W15QKN-21-Q-5030
Asbestos Abatement Services Bldg. 666, Rm. 318 – Fort Devens, MA
19 December 2020
Q1: Can the non-asbestos material on top of the ACM be disposed of as regular waste?
A1: The carpet can be disposed of as regular waste. The tile did not test positive for asbestos however if the mastic is adhered to the tile it will have to be disposed of as asbestos. It is unclear if it will be so the bidder should conservatively assume that they will have to dispose of the tile as asbestos.
Q2: Are there any furniture or other interferences in the space impeding the abatement?
A2: There are a couple pieces of furniture that will be moved prior to the contractor's arrival. There is a heating unit by the exterior wall and piping that will need to be worked around (See Enclosure 1)
Q3: What is the substrate floor (underneath the tile and mastic)?
A3: The substrate floor is concrete. The as built cross section drawing shows it as 9 inches thick and poured in place. (See Attachment 0001)
Q4: We were unable to get a site visit scheduled prior to the request deadline. Do you have any pictures of the area?
A4: See enclosed picture and attachments.
Q5: What kind of access is there to the area?
A5: There are two three story stair ways on either end of the corridor. The room has one door way and a windows to the exterior. (See Attachment 0002)
Q6: Is the room contiguous?
A4: Yes. See attached floor plan.
