*** End of Narrative A0000 ***
The purpose of this amendment is to provide responses for questions asked by industry:
1) Question: "Was it the government's intent to include both a commercial technical data rights and non-commercial technical data rights provision in the RFP (I-92 and I-113)?"
Response: Yes, this was the intent of the government due to the fact that this is for a non-commercial item which may contain commercial components. Clauses shall be filled in as applicable.
2) Question: "Is the POP markings required on the immediate packaging (ammo can)?"
Response: In accordance with the Packing & Marking drawings, POP markings are required on the ammo can. The ammo can shall be POP marked as it allows for individual transportation, if required. Once the ammo can is POP marked, the wirebound box shall be marked
"OVERPACK".
3) Question: "Solicitation states, The US DoD symbol shall not be applied... Unless the Government approves the contractors test reports and authorizes..."
"What requirements must be provided to receive authority? Are there any exceptions, will crate supplier test results qualify, must we test (we are self-testers approved by DoT) or crate specifications allowed?"
Response: If the ammo cans are POP tested from the contractor's site, the contractor shall provide the POP test information in the form of a DI-PACK form for testing and closure. The report shall include, but not limited to, data based off the contractor's testing and a test report with the packaging materials. The report shall be submitted to the Government for review and approval. Once approved, the contractor shall mark the cans with the DOD POP marking. If the ammo cans are already tested from the supplier or source, then the
Government shall provide the POP marking required to be marked on the ammo cans and no further submission of the report is required.
4) Question: "If ammo can must present POP test markings, is it independently tested or is it just results as part of the crate POP testing?"
Response: If the ammo can must present POP markings, it shall be independently tested.
5) Question: "Are reverse tuck-lock flap cartons; with openings at base and head of shell acceptable?"
Response: In accordance with Drawing #7614410, Note 3, the contractor can use an equivalent carton, as long as it complies with the dimensions and thickness as stated in the drawing for proper packaging configuration.
