About this file

This document is a sole source letter from the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA-USA) to the Oregon Statewide Hunter Education Coordinator, detailing a collaborative Hunter Education Virtual Reality (VR) program developed in partnership with Boise State University and seven State Wildlife Agencies. The project involves creating a unique VR program to be distributed freely on the META platform, with intended use for at-home self-study and State Wildlife Agency classroom education, developed by Boise State University's Games, Interactive Media, and Mobile (GIMM) department.

The letter emphasizes the program's exclusivity, noting it is the only VR hunter education program currently offered through IHEA-USA and its collaborative partners. An Agreement has been signed between IHEA-USA and Boise State University, outlining the development work, with distribution planned through agreed-upon channels. The VR software will be available as a free download, targeting both individual learners and state wildlife education programs, with the goal of providing an innovative approach to hunter education training.

From: Alex Baer, IHEA-USA Executive Director

The International Hunter Education Association (IHEA-USA), in partnership with Boise State University, and in collaboration with seven State Wildlife Agencies, is creating a Hunter Education Virtual Reality (VR) program. This VR program is unique and will only be offered through IHEA-USA and channels of dispersement to the public agreed upon by the IHEA-USA and their collaborative partners. This is the only program of its kind currently offered.

The IHEA-USA and Boise State University have an Agreement signed by myself and the Grants and Contracts Officer outlining the work by the University’s Games, Interactive Media, and Mobile (GIMM) department. The dispersal of the VR software will be on the META platform for free download to the public with intended use for at-home self-study and State Wildlife Agency classroom education.

Respectfully, Alex Baer IHEA-USA Executive Director
