About this file
This notice of intent to sole source announces the Department of Veterans Affairs' plan to award a sole source contract to Roche Diagnostics Corporation. The purpose is to obtain automated staining systems and associated histology reagents for use in VISN 1 VA medical centers. The contract would have a base period from May 2024 to May 2029 and utilize FOB destination delivery terms. Roche is identified as the only vendor that can provide the proprietary tissue diagnostics and histology reagents required to operate the staining systems, which are already in place at the listed VA facilities. The notice instructs interested parties to contact the named contracting officer if there are any questions regarding this planned non-competitive procurement.

VISN 1 Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (PLMS) requires stain reagents kits and consumables for Anatomic Pathology Automated Ventana Staining Systems which process specimens for Anatomic Pathology testing in our VISN Laboratories. The Ventana system was purchased and is owned by each facility.
Ventana stains and consumable products are required for use on the present automated Ventana Staining Systems VISN 1 Anatomic Pathology Labs. The government reserves the right to add additional VISN 1 sites as requirements change.
The products listed in this performance work statement are open market, but only specific Ventana Reagents in original bar-coded reagent containers must be used, due to the laboratory instrumentation that is already in place at VISN1 locations.
This contract will be a Blanket Purchase Agreement with a base year and 4 option years.
