About this file
This document is a set of vendor questions and agency responses related to a state and local contract opportunity in Illinois. The contract is for Vienna CC to procure activated carbon slurry equipment for the facility lake that supplies drinking water to both Vienna and Shawnee Correctional Centers. The vendor questions cover the required tank fittings and the appropriate chemical feed pump model based on the chemicals being used. The agency responses specify that no additional tank fittings are needed beyond what is shown in the attachment, and that the S405XAA3012 chemical feed pump model with stainless steel spring, EPDM seat, and Santoprene O-ring is required for use with strong base solutions for pH adjustment.
The pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent information, funding requirements, and other details are not provided in this document. The document focuses solely on clarifying the technical specifications and requirements for the activated carbon slurry equipment.

Vendor Questions and Agency Responses
Vendor Question/Inquiry #1:
The tank spec says it needs “fittings for fill, vent, and outlet”. There is an attachment of the tank. Are additional fittings needed for the tank and if so what type is needed?
Agency Response #1:
The tank does not need additional fittings, the tank in the attachment is fine like it is.
(SEE ATTACHMENT: TANK)
Vendor Question/Inquiry #2:
Regarding the chemical feed pump, it states model S405. There are two options for that pump depending on the chemical being pumped. See below and please advise which you would want:
The difference between the two S Series pumps are the ball check valve material sets.
The S405XAA3011 has the Tantalum Spring, FKM seat & O-ring. This particular ball check works with popular water treatment chemicals: acids and oxidizers (i.e. sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, potassium permanganate and muriatic acid).
The S405XAA3012 has the Stainless Steel Spring, EPDM seat, Santoprene O-Ring. It works with strong base solutions (alkaline or caustic) used in PH adjustment (i.e. sodium hydroxide (NaOH or caustic soda)).
Agency Response #2:
What is needed is as follows:
The S405XAA3012 has the Stainless Steel Spring, EPDM seat, Santoprene O-Ring. It works with strong base solutions (alkaline or caustic) used in PH adjustment (i.e. sodium hydroxide (NaOH or caustic soda)).
