B.2 SCHEDULE OF SUPPLIES & DELIVERY:
1. Item 1 Trade-In – Soiled Monorail System
Q- There is a (Qty. 1) Transcell recessed-type floor scale with model TL-500E SS indicator panel being utilized to weigh filled sling carts prior to slings being lifted to overhead storage. Is this scale system included in the trade-in?
Answer – Yes. This scale system is included in the trade-in.
If yes, is the successful bidder required to remove the imbedded steel coping frame, floor-mounted indicator stand & under slab conduit and infill the pit/floor to match existing floor slab construction?
Answer – Yes. The contractor is required to remove the imbedded steel coping frame, floor-mounted indicator stand & under slab conduit and infill the pit/floor to match existing floor slab construction.
B.4 STATEMENT OF WORK:
A. Project Special Requirements:
1. Does the reference to “any changes to the building to accommodate installation of new equipment” include that the successful bidder’s equipment layout design shall maintain the posted building evacuation routes for the clean area (i.e. to the garage doors located by the clean monorail hoist where the wash cloth station is located) and for the soil area (i.e. to the exterior door adjacent to garage door by cart washer)?
Answer – Yes. The contractor’s equipment layout design shall maintain the posted building evacuation routes for the clean area (i.e. to the garage doors located by the clean monorail hoist where the wash cloth station is located) and for the soil area (i.e. to the exterior door adjacent to garage door by cart washer).
B. General Installation Requirements:
1. Laundry B7 Natural Gas Supply - Amendment 0002 states the successful bidder is responsible for providing sufficient natural gas to the laundry system [assumes Item 2 & 3 with gas-heated equipment will be awarded to one bidder for sole responsibility]. The existing gas distribution system, in part, currently serves (3) production dryers, (2) non-production dryers, (2) flatwork ironers, (1) garment finisher and (1) hot water heater. All equipment are served with individual regulators with pressure settings accommodating the existing supply pressure/volumes. The existing gas header with regulator serving the (2) non-production tumblers is sized for the two specific machines (same with the existing cold water line with back flow prevention for fire suppression). A new branch line from the existing gas main will be required to supply the (3) new non-production tumblers. There is an active flow meter device marked # BLDG-7-NG-01 with wall-mounted recording indicator installed in the main gas supply downstream of the building regulator.
Q1- As a result of the increased gas volume required by the addition of the new Item 3 drying tumblers and potentially the new Item 2 production dryers, if the new total flow volume required for the connected equipment system exceeds the capacity of this meter, who is responsible for sizing, furnishing, installing and calibrating the new meter system, the VA or the successful bidder?
Answer – It is contractor’s responsibility for any increased gas volume required by the addition of the new Item 3 drying tumblers and potentially the new Item 2 production dryers; if the new total flow volume required for the connected equipment system exceeds the capacity of this meter.
Q2- If installation changes are made to the existing gas distribution system, is the successful bidder also responsible for recalibrating the regulators serving existing equipment affected by the design modification?
Answer – Yes. It is the contractor’s responsibility for recalibrating the regulators serving existing equipment affected by the design modification.
Q3- If multiple awards are made for Item 2 and Item 3, which successful bidder is responsible for the natural gas supply modifications? (Note: both items require installation of new gas-heated dryers that will impact the existing gas distribution system. The existing gas header with regulator serving the (2) non-production tumblers is sized for the two specific machines. A new branch line from the existing main will be required to supply the (3) new non-production dryers.)
Answer – Items 2 and 3 shall be awarded together to ensure there is no misunderstanding as to whom is responsible for new gas connections.
ATTACHMENT – TECHNICAL/PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS:
1. ITEM #2 – CONTINUOUS WASH EXTRACT TUNNEL SYSTEM a. Para. 1A p (p.5) States “connection points for water and compressed air shall be from the main headers in the mechanical room.”
Q- Clarify if the successful bidder for Item 2 is required to:
a. Replace the existing hot & tempered process water header piping, hangers, and bracing with new that extend from the header connection points within the Basement Mechanical Room through the pipe space up to the first floor and connect to the new tunnel washer; and, Answer – Yes. The contractor is required to replace the existing hot & tempered process water header piping, hangers, and bracing with new equipment that extend from the header connection points within the Basement Mechanical Room through the pipe space up to the first floor and connect to the new tunnel washer.
b. That work includes replacing the existing +20 year old hot and tempered water headers and branch piping to the cart washer and five (5) existing non-production washer extractors and installing new ball-type isolation valves and water hammer arrestors at each machine connection?
Answer – Yes. The contractor is required to do all work that includes replacing the existing +20-year-old hot and tempered water headers and branch piping to the cart washer and five (5) existing non-production washer extractors. Also, installing new ball-type isolation valves and water hammer arrestors at each machine connection
b. CWES Interface with Existing Process Water System:
Q – Is the existing 2” temperature blending valve assembly furnished with the Thermal Engineering (TEA) process water system required to be installed in the water inlet connections for the new tunnel washer and the control valves interconnected with the TEA waste water heat recovery system for the purpose of automatically modulating the hot & tempered water flows for the desired tunnel inlet water temperatures?
Answer – Yes. the existing 2” temperature blending valve assembly furnished with the Thermal Engineering (TEA) process water system is required to be installed in the water inlet connections for the new tunnel washer. The control valves interconnected with the TEA waste water heat recovery system for automatically modulating the hot & tempered water flows for the desired tunnel inlet water temperatures.
