RFI Questions and Answers

RFI #1

Specification section 11 70 00 indicates which party is responsible for purchasing and installing specific equipment. For equipment mark C1, C2 & C3 it indicates that the equipment is V-C vendor furnished contractor installed. Yet sheet S-4 states that these pieces of equipment are installed by the manufacturer. Looking at sheet S-4 it appears as if the installation is a shared responsibility and that the contractor is responsible for the above ceiling Unistrut, threaded rods and plate. Can the VA confirm that the contractor is only responsible for installing the above ceiling supports and is not reasonable for installing the actual boom and associated accessories/equipment?

Answer: The design team would agree with the assumption that the Contractor is to provide and install the structural supports and points of connection for MEP. The vendor is responsible for installing their actual equipment.

RFI #2

For equipment marked ME-64 and ME-65 is labeled as (V-C/V-V) will the VA clarify/verify what exactly the contractor is to install for these pieces of equipment? It is our understanding that typically the VA hired equipment manufacturer will install all of the equipment and that the contractor is only responsible to install the rough electrical that is marked on the equipment manufactures drawings as being by the contractor, is this the case for this contract?

Answer: The design team would agree with this assumption.

RFI #3

Section 01 35 26, Part 1.07 – Site Safety and Health Officer. Will the VA confirm that the SSHO for this project may also be the same person as the Site Superintendent, or will the SSHO position require a person that only serves in this role?

Answer: The SSHO may be the same person as the site superintendent.

RFI#4

RFI #5

Will the VA require Commissioning of any system or systems for this project? If so, will the VA provide the appropriate Specification Section(s) and advise on who will be hiring the Commissioning Agent for this project?

Answer: For consideration is the Simpson Titen 2 Concrete Screw should structurally be able to secure the sheet to the underside of floor. Here is the link to the screw: https://www.strongtie.com/mechanicalanchors_mechanicalanchoringproducts/ttn2_screw/p/titen-2 We would suggest inquiring with the lead sheet manufacturer for their recommendation for any particular specialty screw/anchor.

RFI #8
