About this file

This is a salient characteristics document detailing requirements for unified storage systems sought by the Library of Congress for their Tier-1 and Tier-2 data storage needs. The systems must provide both Block and NAS storage capabilities and will be hosted in on-premises datacenters in Manassas, Virginia (primary site) and Wise County, Virginia (DR site).

The requirements specify four storage systems total: two at the primary location (each with 1.13PB usable storage and 250TB SSD/Flash) and two at the DR location (one with 1.04PB and another with 876TB usable storage, both with 250TB SSD/Flash). Key technical requirements include support for Fiber Channel, SMB, NFS and iSCSI protocols, 32Gb FC ports, 25GbE connectivity, data encryption at rest, LDAP support, compatibility with multiple operating systems (Windows Server, RHEL, VMware), automated tiering, data deduplication, and disaster recovery capabilities. The systems must support various integrations including VMware Site Recovery Manager, ServiceNow/CMDB, and Commvault. Vendors must provide 4-hour 7x24 on-site support at both locations and include setup, initial configuration, and knowledge transfer with 1-year support.
