About this file

This memorandum from the 39th Electronic Warfare Squadron (39 EWS) at Eglin Air Force Base details technical requirements for a ruggedized Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) chassis. The chassis must be built to CMOSS and OpenVPX standards, designed for integrated front loading, and ruggedized to meet MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461C environmental and electromagnetic compatibility specifications.

The chassis requires a 100 GbE backplane with 7 specific card slots, including a 600W power supply, dual enclave Ethernet switch, position navigation and timing card, single board computer with 128GB RAM and 2TB SSD storage, and a general-purpose GPU card capable of 10-17 TFLOPS. It must support multiple external interfaces such as power connectors, network ports, transceiver signal ports, zeroize switch, and various specialized connectors for GPS, PNT, and RF blocks. The VPX backplane configuration includes 4 dedicated CMOSS payload slots, 1 timing slot, 1 Ethernet switch slot, and 1 VPX power supply slot, with power input compatibility for MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, and DEFSTAN 61-5 standards.
