About this file
The provided document is a Sources Sought notice for the U.S. Navy Submarine Transducer Repair Facility (TRF) contract opportunity. The TRF provides safety of ship and mission critical transducer repair and restoration services in support of shipyard availabilities and fleet mission needs. The contractor will be responsible for operating and potentially establishing the facility, which requires specialized expertise in acoustic sensor requirements, design, construction, restoration, repair, and recertification. The work includes building and delivering approximately 22 shipsets of DT-100 hydrophones annually, as well as restoring, repairing, and recertifying various other SONAR sensors. The anticipated manning profile is 500-600 hours per week, with the work to be performed in a 3,000-5,000 sq ft facility with access to hydrostatic pressure and acoustic tank testing capabilities. The government is seeking information from interested parties on their capability, capacity, and interest in performing these contract services, as well as potential alternative locations to the current site at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Respondents are asked to provide a rough order of magnitude cost estimate for managing, operating, and establishing the facility.
