About this file
This is a Scope of Work document for Burke County, North Carolina, detailing a trail improvement and construction project requiring a qualified General Contractor with NCDOT prequalification and demonstrated trail building experience. The project encompasses two primary components: rehabilitation of approximately 1.75 miles (9,240 linear feet) of existing trail and construction of approximately 2.2 miles (11,616 linear feet) of new trail. The existing trail rehabilitation work includes an NCDOT-approved crossing of NC Highway 126 equipped with a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon, associated signage, trailhead improvements, rehabilitation of four private road crossings with improvements and signage, and rehabilitation or enhancement of an existing bridge structure. The new trail construction phase requires implementation of an NCDEQ-approved Erosion & Sediment Control plan, measures, and installation of a proposed stream crossing utilizing a USFS modified wood stringer bridge. All work must comply with specified guidelines and generally acceptable trail building practices, with construction limited to within 30 feet of the flagged corridor and recorded easement boundaries.
The contractor shall be responsible for providing all materials and equipment necessary to complete both the rehabilitation and new construction components of the project. The NCDOT prequalification requirement indicates that specific contractor qualifications and certifications are mandatory for project eligibility. No additional information regarding pricing terms, payment schedules, project timeline, response deadlines, site visit requirements, bidder meetings, award dates, or contract term is specified in the available documentation.
