About this file

This document is a Craft Information Book volume detailing towing procedures for a YRBM (Yard Repair Boat Modular) vessel. The document provides comprehensive instructions for preparing the craft for towing, including critical pre-towing steps such as disconnecting all shore station connections, securing various onboard systems (HVAC, chilled water, refrigeration, potable water, sewage, communications, and electrical systems), and installing transit covers on windows, doors, and ventilators.

The towing procedures outline specific technical requirements, including inspecting towing equipment for damage, removing chain gates that interfere with towing, connecting towing bridle and cable according to NAVSEA drawing 582-8921104, establishing communications between towing personnel, and hoisting day shapes and towing lights. The document emphasizes critical warnings about proper equipment preparation to prevent mission effectiveness loss or equipment damage, and references the U.S. Navy Towing Manual for final towing guidance. The procedures are designed to ensure the vessel's stability, directional control, and compliance with ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) directives during offshore towing operations.
