STATEMENT OF NEED
DOCKAGE PORT OF CHARLESTON
PURPOSE:
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration operates multiple research vessels. The NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson is scheduled to visit Charleston during 2023/24:
We will be conducting outreach activities and request berthing at State Pier #2.
NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson – 208’ LOA and 15’ draft
Vessels will be abiding by all established COVID-19 protocols. These protocols at times will include restricting the ability of embarked ship personnel to go ashore and/or preventing direct interaction with any off ship personnel.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
The following dates are anticipated but are subject to change:
CLIN 0001:
Period of Performance: July 19 - 22, 2024 (4 days)
CLIN 0002:
Period of Performance: August 9 - 12, 2024 (4 days)
CLIN 0003:
Period of Performance: August 30. 2024 - September 2, 2024 (4 days)
CLIN 0004:
Period of Performance: September 20 - 23, 2024 (4 days)
CLIN 0005:
Period of Performance: July 01, 2024 - December 31, 2024 (4 days)
Services to be provided
- Services Moorage Dockage/ Berth
- Line Handling In/Out
- Shore power (if available, 480vac, 300amp, 3 phase, NATO) 125kW/h and 3000 kWh/day Total of
12,000kwh (four days)
- Potable Water approx. (4,560 gal/day) Total for four days Approx.: 18,240 gal
- potable water connection,
- 20 yd dumpster, and empty as needed.
- Two yokohama fenders for a port side tie up,
- Parking for 3 vehicles.
- Operations: Ship may need to take on fuel, transfer waste oil and sewage and load stored and equipment.
