About this file
This Performance Work Statement (PWS) details a service agreement for maintenance of three TEG®5000 Thromboelastograph Hemostasis Analyzer Systems at the Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio (NAMRU-SA). The contract covers an annual service agreement with two on-site preventative maintenance inspections per year, including parts, labor, and travel expenses, for devices used in trauma and controlled-hemorrhagic shock research. Support includes unlimited 24/7 technical telephone assistance and on-site emergency call service during normal business hours.
The contract is structured for a 12-month base period with four 12-month option periods, totaling 60 months. The maintenance will be performed on-site at NAMRU-SA, located at 4141 Petroleum Dr., BLDG 3260, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, TX 78234. The equipment supports critical research analyzing blood clot characteristics and hemostasis, with the ultimate goal of translating laboratory treatments to battlefield medical care for wounded soldiers. FY ’25
NAVAL MEDICAL RESEARCH UNIT SAN ANTONIO
PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT
Date: December 17, 2024
Service Agreement for Maintenance of TEG 5000 Analyzers
1. Scope of Work The Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) is conducting research in trauma and controlled-hemorrhagic shock that requires a standardized and qualitative approach in clot characterization and hemostasis. The TEG®5000 Thromboelastograph Hemostasis Analyzer System is technology that assesses and monitors bleeding and thrombosis in real-time blood samples. The TEG®5000 devices located at NAMRU-SA are necessary to conduct hematological analysis of fibrinogen levels, platelet functionality, and rapid detection of clot strength impairment. Due to the demand of numerous protocols and to maintain testing ability in-house, on-site service is required for the machine to reduce interruption in experimental projects. Characterization of the clot and hemostasis in the hemorrhage models will translate the treatments(s) from the laboratory to the battlefield for wounded soldiers.
