Technical Specifications Summary: Automated HEM/SGT-HEM Extraction System
This document consists of technical specifications for an automated hexane extractable materials (HEM) and silica gel treated hexane extractable materials (SGT-HEM) extraction system (AES) required by the City of Tampa's Howard F. Curren Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant Analytical Laboratory in Florida. The system must be capable of accurately and precisely determining HEM and SGT-HEM concentrations in accordance with USEPA Method 1664A across various aqueous sample matrices, including untreated wastewaters, highly treated wastewater effluents, and industrial wastewaters with high concentrations of suspended particulates and colloidal solids. The AES must be capable of simultaneously processing three 1000mL samples onto 100mm solid phase extraction disks and must include six SPE disk holders, nine sample extract receiving vessels, a controller-automated system compliant with USEPA Method 1664A, an n-hexane evaporator system, and all necessary tubing, connectors, and accessories. The system must be installed at the Administration Building at 2700 Maritime Blvd., Tampa, Florida, with installation and initial testing completed within 60 days of purchase order issuance. All costs for installation, testing, and familiarization training are to be included in the bid price.
The system must operate in tandem with the City's existing Horizon SPE-DEX 3000 system and be compatible with specified consumables including Pacific Premium Oil & Grease Disks (100mm), Pacific O&G Fast Flow Pre-Filters (90mm), and Aluminum 125mL Weigh Pans (105mm). Following installation and training, the system must conform to all technical specifications during a 30-day evaluation period, with bidders required to accept return of the system and provide full refund if specifications are not met. Bidders must demonstrate an established service and technical support network and provide references from at least three TNI-accredited environmental or wastewater laboratories currently operating the specified system. For one year following installation and acceptance, the bidder shall provide all repairs, parts, labor, and related expenses at no charge to the City. Additionally, the bidder must make available optional one-year service and maintenance contracts for the subsequent ten-year period for preventive maintenance and emergency service.
