2. Install subbase/base layers as needed to match levels and composition with new paved areas.

3. Supply and install concrete pavers (betonelle), similar to those used for the pathway, to create a uniform, ADA-compliant surface with adequate bearing capacity and drainage gradients.

o Installation of Bollards and Chains

1. Supply and install metal bollards anchored to the previously constructed concrete plinths.

2. Supply and install galvanized or painted chains between bollards to define and protect the dedicated pedestrian path, ensuring visibility and continuity.

3. Apply anti-corrosion protection and any required reflective elements on bollards to improve visibility.

o Markings and Signage

1. Apply road markings for the disabled parking space (symbol, outlines, hatching) using high-visibility, non-slip, weather-resistant paint.

2. Install vertical signage indicating the reserved disabled parking space and pedestrian pathway, in accordance with applicable local and ADA-related standards.

3. Install any additional directional and warning signs required to guide vehicles and pedestrians.

o Restoration and Finishing Works

1. Restore all areas adjacent to the works, including cutting and reinstatement of asphalt or existing paving where disturbed.

2. Perform site cleaning, remove all construction debris, and deliver the completed works free of dust and residues.

3. Perform final inspection, alignment checks, and minor adjustments to pavers, bollards, chains, and markings to ensure full functionality and compliance.

4. Handrails for USUN and Consulate Main Staircases o General Requirements

1. On the access stairways serving USUN and the Consulate, the clear width between existing handrails exceeds 1,200 mm. The Contractor shall install an additional central handrail to ensure full compliance with Italian and U.S.

regulations on accessibility and removal of architectural barriers.

2. All dimensions, configurations, and details shall comply with ADA requirements and applicable Italian regulations.

o Handrail Geometry and Configuration

1. Provide new handrails with a constant height of 960 mm above the tread surface.

2. Install continuous handrails along the full length of each stair flight, on both sides of the stairs and centrally where required by stair width.

3. Provide circular handrail sections between 32 mm and 51 mm in diameter, to ensure an ergonomic grip and compliance with standards

4. Ensure that upper and lateral grasping surfaces are free of obstructions for the entire length, with intermediate posts located so as not to interfere with handhold.

5. Extend handrails 305 mm beyond the first and last riser at the beginning and end of each flight, in accordance with ADA and Italian requirements.

o Support Structure and Fixing

1. Avoid invasive anchoring into the existing stair structures.

2. Support the handrails with a self-supporting structure consisting of concrete end posts and a connecting concrete curb.

3. Properly size these concrete elements so that deep foundations or anchors into existing paving are not required, relying on their weight and static configuration.

4. Provide a protective layer between the new concrete elements and the existing stairs to prevent damage, water infiltration, or abrasion of original surfaces.

5. Fix the handrail assembly (rail and posts in hot-rolled steel) exclusively to the self-supporting concrete elements, avoiding direct interventions on original steps.

o Materials and Finishes

1. Prefabricate handrails and posts in galvanized steel with grey anthracite powder-coat finish, ensuring durability, anticorrosion protection, and visual consistency with existing metal elements.

2. Provide concrete end posts and curbs clad with travertine slabs, with color and cut similar to existing finishes, to ensure material and chromatic continuity with the building.

3. Ensure all edges are rounded and all exposed surfaces are smooth and free from discontinuities that could pose a risk to users.

MATERIAL EQUIVALENTS

The Contractor shall verify and ensure that all the materials supplied are new and without defects and that their use and/or installation is carried out using the best techniques and fully respecting the instructions supplied by the manufacturers.

Special parts shall be manufactured solely by workshops that are highly qualified in that specific sector.

The makes indicated in this SOW (Scope of Work) are intended as a point of reference and therefore, the words or approved equivalent are implicit.

Different selections implemented by the Contractor shall be approved in advance by Client after submission of samples and technical cards.
