SECTION C- DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATION
ITEM DESCRIPTION
UNDERSHIRT, MESH, COLD WEATHER, BASELAYER
PART OF THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS COLD WEATHER CLOTHING BASE LAYER SET LAYERING SYSTEM.
UNDERSHIRT SHALL BE MADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-DTL-32741 w/AMENDMENT 1, DATED 25 MARCH 2024.

SHADE STANDARD IS AVAILABLE UNDER INTERIM ROLL NUMBER 3893. FOR SHADE ONLY.
Packaging examination. The fully packaged end item shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of shipping containers. The sample unit shall be one shipping container fully packaged. The Inspection level shall be S-2 and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5.
Examine Defect
Marking Omitted; incorrect; illegible, of (exterior) improper size, location, sequence & Unit Pack, or method of application.
Materials Any component missing, damaged or not as specified.
Workmanship Inadequate application of components, such as: incomplete closure of container flaps, loose strapping, improper taping, or inadequate stapling. Bulged or distorted container.
Contents Number of intermediate containers per shipping container is more or less than required.
Number of items per container is more or less than required.
Palletization examination. The fully packaged and palletized end items shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of palletized unit loads. The sample unit shall be one palletized unit load, fully packaged.
The Inspection level shall be S-1 and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 6.5.
Examine Defect
Finished Length, width or height exceeds Dimensions specified maximum requirement.
Palletization Pallet pattern not as specified.
Interlocking of loads not as specified. Load not bonded with required straps as specified.
Weight Exceeds maximum load limits.
Marking Omitted; incorrect; illegible; of improper size, location, sequence or method of application.

SECTION D – PACKAGING AND MARKING
CASE LOT QUANTITY OF 20 UNDERSHIRTS SAME SIZE.
EACH UNDERSHIRT SHALL BE PACKED IN A CLEAR, POLY BAG WITH REVERSE FLAP CLOSURE, WITH TAGS/LABELS CLEARLY VISIBLE.
TESTING OF THE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BASIC MATERIAL CLOTH IS REQUIRED.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE IS ACCEPTABLE FOR OTHER COMPONENTS.
GENERAL INSPECTION LEVEL II IN ACCORDANCE WITH LASTEST VERSION OF ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 FOR VISUAL AND DIMENSIONAL.
END ITEM VISUAL: THE LOT SIZE SHALL BE EXPRESSED IN UNITS OF UNDERSHIRTS. THE SAMPLE UNIT SHALL BE ONE UNDERSHIRT. THE INSPECTION LEVEL SHALL BE II AND THE ACCEPTABLE QUALITY LEVEL (AQL), EXPRESSED IN TERMS OF DEFECTS PER HUNDRED UNITS, SHALL BE 2.5.
END ITEM DIMENSIONAL: ANY DIMENSION NOT WITHIN THE SPECIFIED TOLERANCE SHALL BE CLASSIFIED AS A DEFECT. THE LOT SIZE SHALL BE EXPRESSED IN UNITS OF UNDERSHIRTS. THE SAMPLE UNIT SHALL BE ONE UNDERSHIRT. THE INSPECTION LEVEL SHALL BE S-3 AND THE AQL, EXPRESSED IN TERMS OF DEFECTS PER HUNDRED UNITS, SHALL BE 4.0.
AS A MINIMUM ITEM SHALL BE PACKED IN A SNUG FITTING FIBERBOARD SHIPPING CONTAINER CONFORMING TO ASTM-D-5118, TYPE CF, STYLE RSC, GRADE 275 OR ECT44, VARIETY SW, CLASS DOMESTIC, WITH A DOUBLE WALL LINER. ANY COMMERCIAL CLOSURE METHOD CITED IN ASTM-D-1974 IS ACCEPTABLE EXCEPT STAPLING.
PACKAGING SHALL BE AS PER ASTM-D-3951, MIL-STD-129R, and MIL-STD-147E.
LOT NUMBERING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-129R AND DLA Troop Support Clothing & Textiles Additional Quality Assurance Requirements dated August 2021.
