About this file

This document is a Description of Requirement for refurbished TACAN (Tactical Air Navigation) Test Sets ATC-1400A-2 and T-1401-2, specifically for the AN/ARM-135 Intermediate TACAN Test Set. The Viavi/Aeroflex ATC-1400A-2 is a microprocessor-based bench tester for comprehensive testing of Air Traffic Control transponder and Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), with capabilities including automatic frequency stepping, IEEE-488-1978 GPIB interface, digital display of transponder reply pulses, and remote operation.

The Aeroflex/IFR T-1401-2 avionics test equipment provides TACAN bearing and DME simulation for testing air-to-air and ground-to-air airborne equipment in normal and inverse modes. Key features include ground-to-air mode operation, identification and equalizer pulse pair generation, and mode information exchange through the Aeroflex Bus. The solicitation is for refurbished equipment only, with the vendor required to validate serviceability and deliver a calibrated product. The opportunity is issued by the Department of the Army Michigan Army National Guard under solicitation number W50S8525QA019.

Description of Requirement

(TACAN Test Sets ATC-1400A-2 and T-1401-2, REFURBISHED)

Provide the Description of all of the salient physical, functional or performance characteristics that the item must meet to be acceptable for award: (be as detailed as possible)

Item Description:

The AN/ARM-135 Intermediate TACAN Test Set requires both the ACT-1400A-2 and the T-1401-2 to perform intermediate testing and repair of the TACAN receiver-transmitter and the TACAN Analog-to- Digital Adapter.

The Viavi / Aeroflex ATC-1400A-2 is a Transponder/DME microprocessor based bench tester developed for comprehensive testing and troubleshooting of ATC (Air Traffic Control) / Transponder equipment and DME (Distance Measuring Equipment). The ATC-1400A can be operated either manually using the front panel controls and switches, or remotely by ATE control utilizing the GPIB interface.

The Aeroflex / IFR T-1401-2 avionics test equipment provides a full range of TACAN bearing and DME simulation required to test and service air-to-air and ground-to-air airborne equipment in both normal and inverse modes. The control settings on the T-1401-2 front panel determine the mode of operation.

Selecting Ground-to-Air (G/A) Mode enables the Identification and Equalizer pulse pairs. The ATC- 1400A-2 also sends mode information when connected to the T-1401-2 through the Aeroflex Bus. ATC- 1400A-2 mode information includes Identification On/Off, Equalizer On/Off, X/Y Mode and P1 and P2 pulse spacing.

Refurbished equipment only; vendor must validate serviceability and deliver product calibrated.
