About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity related to the development of metal powder coating using the LabRAM5 mixer. The scope of the work includes determining the feasibility of coating metal powder feedstock (1545um) with nanoscale Y2O3 powder, conducting experiments to optimize the mixing energy and time needed, and analyzing the acceptable mixing container dimensions and fill. The work will result in a report detailing the experiments and results, as well as an optimized mixing recipe for coating powder using the LabRAM5 mixer.
The related federal contract opportunity, solicitation number 80NSSC868985Q, is a Special Notice from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA/GRC) for the LabRAM5 development of metal powder coating. The SOW and Capabilities statement provide full details of the requirement.

LabRAM5 Investigation SOW
The scope of this work is to determine the possibility of coating metal powder feedstock (15‐45um) with nano‐scale Y2O3 powder. If determined possible, experiments will be used to determine the optimal mixing energy and time needed to coat metal powder in the larger LabRAM5 mixer. Additional analysis will be completed to find the acceptable mixing container dimensions and fill. This includes finding the limits to how much powder can be mixed per session. The work will deliver a report detailing the experiments performed and subsequent results. Finally, an optimized mixing recipe for coating powder using the LabRAM 5 mixer will be delivered.
