About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the acquisition of flight-qualified solar panels for the TERP RAPTOR 12U CubeSat mission to asteroid Apophis. The University of Maryland project team is procuring one pair of flight-ready solar panels that will provide power to all spacecraft subsystems throughout the six-month mission duration from launch in June 2028 through the asteroid flyby on December 30, 2028.

The solar panels must meet specific technical requirements including maximum stowed dimensions of 226.3mm x 226.3mm x 340.5mm with a thickness under 39.5mm, weigh no more than 0.578 kg with a 30% mass contingency, deliver a minimum power output of 25W throughout the mission, and feature a deployable array design. The contractor shall deliver one Flight Model including protective cover and transportation container, two Solar Array Wings each containing 20 AZUR 3G30A solar cells (26.51 cm²), hinges, thermal knife deployment system, spacers, and other electrical components such as connectors, temperature sensors, and diodes. The deliverables also include interface documentation, software, calibration information, user documentation, acceptance testing, and technical support during spacecraft integration and initial functional verification. The contractor must conduct a full FM test campaign including vibrations, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and bake-out tests. The place of performance is B33 Suite D205B at NASA GSFC, with unit testing and integration scheduled for July 1, 2027 through October 31, 2027.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Purpose / Objective The objective of this procurement is to acquire a flight-qualified solar panel set for the TERP RAPTOR 12U CubeSat mission to asteroid Apophis. The solar panels will support the mission's science objectives by providing power to all subsystems onboard.

2. Scope of Work

This procurement includes the acquisition, delivery, verification, and integration support of flight-ready solar panels for the TERP RAPTOR mission. Work performed under this procurement includes:

Delivery of one pair of flight ready solar panels meeting the technical requirements specified herein.

Delivery of interface documentation, software, calibration information, and user documentation necessary for spacecraft integration and operation.

Technical support from the contractor during solar panel acceptance, spacecraft integration, and initial functional verification.

Acceptance testing of the delivered hardware to demonstrate compliance with contractual and technical requirements.

Integration of the solar panels into the TERP RAPTOR spacecraft by the University of Maryland project team.

Functional verification and environmental compatibility testing following spacecraft integration.

3. Technical Requirements and Deliverables

The solar panels shall satisfy the following minimum requirements:

Maximum dimensions (stowed in the deployer)

1. < 226.3mm x-axis (based on deployment criteria)

2. < 226.3mm y-axis (based on deployment criteria)

3. < 340.5mm z-axis (based on deployment criteria)

4. Thickness < 39.5mm (based on deployment criteria)

Minimum total solar array power = 25W Weigh no more than .578 kg with a 30% mass contingency Deployable array Able to output minimum solar array power of 25W throughout mission duration of 6 months (Launch June 2028, Flyby Dec. 30 2028)

The contractor shall provide:

1 x Flight Model (FM). Each model shall include:

o Protective cover and protective transportation container.
