About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the delivery and installation of integrated control-room-style workstation desks at NASA's Ames Research Center, scheduled for August 2026. The project involves two installation locations: Building N240, Room R241A and Building N240, Room R242 at the Multi-Mission Operations Center.

The contractor must deliver and install workstations featuring enclosed base cabinets designed to house desktop computers, UPS units, power strips, and related equipment. Each workstation requires a fully integrated cable management system allowing unobstructed cable routing throughout desks and between assembled units, with no rear doors, panels, or obstructions impeding wiring access or airflow. Workstations must include standard slatwall backs positioned above work surfaces to support monitor-arm mounts and nameplates, with contractor-provided slatwall dimensions and compatible monitor arm part numbers that work with commercially available arms. Work surfaces shall consist of non-metallic laminated MDF or equivalent/higher-grade material with ergonomic curved or tapered front edges. Base structures must be constructed of sturdy, non-flexing material, with laminated MDF or better side panels featuring user-selectable color finishes; designs incorporating the NASA Worm logo will receive additional consideration. Each workstation's computer-equipment cabinet must include an integrated power supply with a minimum of six outlets. Dimensional specifications require work-surface height within ±1 inch of 28 5/8 inches, depth between 30-32 inches, minimum 18-inch leg clearance before the equipment cabinet, and no dividing pillars or structures interfering with operator leg clearance. All workstation components must support government color finish selection prior to manufacturing. Room R242 contains a structural pillar 27¾ inches from the north wall and approximately 1'4" from the east wall; a small additional desk surface should continue the work space for the northeast position user. The new desks must visually align with existing mission control workstations while maintaining a professional appearance suitable for televised spaceflight operations.

Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Mission Control Workstation Desk Delivery and Installation

Multi-Mission Operation’s Center @ Ames Research Center Location: Building N240 – Rooms R241A and R242

Date: August 2026

The contractor shall deliver and install integrated control-room–style workstation desks designed for mission-critical environments. Each workstation shall feature enclosed base cabinets capable of housing desktop workstations, UPS units, power strips, and related equipment. Bases shall include fully integrated cable management systems that allow unobstructed cable routing throughout each desk and between all desks in the assembled configuration. No rear doors, rear panels, or other obstructions that impede wiring access or airflow shall be included in the base structure.

Workstations shall include standard slat-wall backs positioned above the work surface to support accessories such as monitor-arm mounts and positional nameplates. Contractor shall provide the dimensions of the slatwalls, along with part numbers of compatible slatwall monitor arms that work with the slat-wall quoted. Slatwall must be compatible with commercially available monitor mount arms.

All workstation components shall support government selection of color finishes prior to manufacturing and delivery. Work surfaces shall consist of non-metallic laminated MDF or equivalent/higher-grade material, with ergonomic features including a curved or tapered front edge to reduce operator pressure points. Base structures shall be constructed of sturdy material such that the desks do not flex, deform, or wobble once installed as configured. Side panels shall be laminated MDF or equivalent/better with user-selectable finishes; additional consideration will be given to designs incorporating the NASA Worm logo. The overall aesthetic design shall visually align with existing mission control workstations and maintain a professional appearance suitable for televised spaceflight operations.

Each workstation’s computer-equipment cabinet shall include an integrated power supply unit with a minimum of six (6) outlets.

Dimensional requirements include:

Standard desk work-surface height within ±1 inch of 28 5/8 inches.

Work-surface depth within the range of 30 to 32 inches.

Minimum leg clearance of approximately 18 inches before the start of the computer-equipment cabinet.

Workstations shall not include dividing pillars or other structures that interfere with operator leg clearance.

Installation locations:

Building N240, Room R241A

Building N240, Room R242

Bldg N240 Room R241A

Bldg N240 Room R242. Note there is a small pillar in the top right corner of the room, that comes out 27 ¾” from the north wall and approximately 1’4” from the East wall. A small additional desk surface continuing the work space for the user in the northeast position of the room should be included.
