About this file

This is Addendum #1 to solicitation T-26-08 issued by the Town of Brookfield, Connecticut, regarding the removal of a firewood pile from the town's brush yard. The addendum clarifies the scope of work and eligible bid submissions for the project. The Town has sorted a specific pile of logs deemed suitable for firewood that are available for removal. Proposals are due by 11:00 AM on January 15th, 2026, unchanged from the original solicitation date. Interested bidders may submit offers to purchase any wood in the brush yard or charge for removal of the logs. No site visit or bidder's conference information is specified in this addendum.

The addendum establishes that the Town will not accept bids charging for grinding and processing of wood piles, as this service is already covered under the Town's existing debris management contract, which runs through October 2027. Any wood remaining in the brush yard after the firewood pile removal will be handled by the debris management contractor. The addendum does not specify pricing terms, set-asides, or funding sources. Bidders may either offer to purchase wood or propose removal charges, but grinding and processing services are explicitly excluded from acceptable bid proposals.

Removal of Firewood Pile T-26-08 - Addendum #1

Issue Date: January 9th, 2026 Proposal Due Date: 11:00AM January 15th, 2026 (unchanged)

1. Debris Management Contract The Town of Brookfield has an existing contract for debris management, which terminates in October 2027.

Any wood that remains in the brush yard will be handled by the contractor engaged under the terms of that contract. The Town will not be accepting a price to grind and process the wood piles.

2. Firewood Pile The Town had been led to believe that some of the wood in the brush yard had a value as firewood. To this end, the Town crew sorted a pile of logs that were deemed suitable for firewood (pictured below).

3. Bids for Removal of Wood Pile(s) For clarification, bids will be accepted to buy any of the wood in the brush yard, or charge for the removal of the logs. As stated above, bids will not be accepted to charge the Town for grinding and processing the wood piles, as this is already covered under the terms of the existing contract.

End of Addendum #1
