Solicitation No. – 69056723B000020

The attached preliminary plans are being furnished to aid prospective Bidders in identifying the location and type of work for this project. The project will be advertised during a period when viewing of the project may not be possible due to snow. Therefore, prospective Bidders are encouraged to view the project during fall as conditions permit.

After October 16, 2023, access will be weather dependent. Contact Steve Miller (907-260-2805) or Clifton Peterson (907-260-2832) at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge for current road conditions. No Federal Highway Administration personnel will be available for show-me tours.

Project Location and Type of Work - All project work is located within the Kenai National

Wildlife Refuge. There are three project sites within the project area: two on Swan Lake Road and one on Swanson River Road.

Existing culverts are to be replaced with Aquatic Organism Passage culverts at three locations:

• Site 1 - On Swan Lake Road where it crosses Sucker Creek (60.724851°, -150.678281°) approximately 4.6 miles east of Swanson River Road.

• Site 2 - On Swan Lake Road at an unnamed tributary (60.736917°, -150.793626°) downstream of Cashka Lake approximately 0.3 miles east of Swanson River Road.

• Site 3 - On Swanson River Road near the outfall of Rainbow Lake (60.717286°, -150.817591°) approximately 15.4 miles north of Sterling (Sterling Hwy).

Work at all three sites consists of replacement of an existing undersized culvert with Aquatic

Organism Passage culvert (including streambed channel reconstruction), additional smaller culvert installation, excavation, embankment to raise roadway grade, and placement of roadway aggregate resurfacing.
