About this file
This is a technical specification document for a tower light replacement project in Sterling, Illinois. The scope involves replacing the lighting system on a 400-foot Rohn 80 guyed tower located at 3107 E Lincolnway in Sterling, Whiteside County (coordinates: 41-48-22.1 N, 89-39-34.2 W). The project requires removing the existing non-functioning light system, including top beacon, side marker lights, control box, and old wiring, and installing a new LED tower light kit that meets FAA specifications and avian flashing requirements. The new system must include a daytime white flash/red night flash top beacon, LED side marker lights, appropriate cabling, and operate on 120 volts AC with an external photocell for day/night operation switching.
The specified lighting system is an A2 Avian Kit 21, similar to A2-2PRED-KIT or FAA A2 KIT by Dialight, which includes three FAA L-864 Red Flashing LED Beacons and a Predator Controller housed in a NEMA 4X Polycarbonate Box. The system requires Form C Contact separation for Power and Lamp Failure (120VAC) and includes cables and accessories. The contractor must meet state requirements for tower safety and provide safety certifications and insurance. All wiring must comply with current NEC codes.
